Notable Faculty: Peter Kurau
Kurau is a noted performer who currently plays in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, Kurau has taught many of the finest young french horn performers today who have gone on to stellar careers at universities, brass ensembles, symphonic ensembles, and even careers performing with major popular musicians. For example, one of his former students, J. Greg Miller, a french horn player who is a notable classical musician, has toured with the rock band The Who as recently as 2012-2013 for their “Quadrophenia And More” tour.
Indiana University Jacobs School of Music – Bloomington, IN
Notable Faculty: Dale Clevenger, Myron Bloom, Jeff Nelsen
One of the greatest orchestral french horn performers of all time, Dale Clevenger was the principal horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, one of the countries finest ensembles, for a staggering 47 years, from 1966 to 2013. Since 2013, Clevenger has dedicated his time to teaching many of the finest young musicians in the country.
Also on the faculty is the well-known pedagogue and distinguished french horn player Myron Bloom, who has performed under the batons of George Szell and Daniel Barenboim. Since 1985, Bloom has taught many of the most accomplished brass musicians in the world at full time at Indiana.

University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music – Cincinnati, OH
Notable faculty: Randy Gardner
An Important teacher, Randy Gardner’s students have won a considerable number of student and professional honors, including three recent students of his winning positions in the “The President’s Own” Marine Band, as well as positions throughout Europe. For his outstanding contribution to teaching, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music awarded him the Ernest N. Glover Outstanding Teacher Award. A noted performer, Gardner performed for over two decades in the Philadelphia Orchestra under the batons of legendary conductors Eugene Ormandy and Ricardo Muti. In addition to CCM, Professor Gardner has taught at a number of important music colleges, including Temple and Indiana.
